Star Wars stacks up as chubbies

Friday, August 8th, 2008

The Star Wars series has become such an epic sci-fi saga that we now know the colourful histories of all the much-loved characters. Following the events of a galaxy far, far away is one heck of a ride. Along the way, we’ve witnessed Obi-Wan Kenobi’s rise to greatness, Anakin Skywalker’s descent into the dark side, and had a good few chuckles with C-3PO too. And now what’s really cool is the new Star Wars Chubbies at urbanretro.co.uk are representing that evolution in a quirky cartoon style. Drawing on influences from Russian nesting dolls, the cute little Star Wars Chubbies stack inside each other, giving you three characters in one! So for instance, with the Darth Vader & Anakin Skywalker Doll, we’ve got the pod-racing wonder kid Anakin from episode I who then fits inside the angry episode III Anakin, who in turn slots under the heavy-breath anti-hero Darth Vader. This chubby perfectly plots his progression to evil overlord! Standing from 1.5 inches to 3.4 inches tall they are the perfect desktop distraction. All the classic characters are here as well, from Obi-Wan Kenobi, to Emperor Palpatine and General Grievous. Collectors crave this kind of thing, so check out all the Star Wars Chubbies at urbanretro.co.uk and retrace the footsteps of the sci-fi legend that is Star Wars!

Super Mario made super small

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Mario has always been a cute little character, and now him and his pals have been made even more miniature! The Italian plumber has been shrunk down in size courtesy of the Super Mario mini figure collection now available at urbanretro.co.uk. It kinda reminds us of the teeny-weeny Mario in the early NES and SNES videogames. And of course, all the other famous characters haven’t been left out, so you can choose from Luigi, Yoshi, a paragoomba, Bob-omb and Bullet Bill too. As the characters are between 3 to 6cm tall they are a neat size and will create a cool distraction to liven up your desk. Bet Nintendo never imagined their characters could be recreated so small yet with so much detail! These figures are exclusive to the UK, so they are a collector’s dream. Be sure to get there first and view the whole Super Mario mini figure collection at urbanretro.co.uk.
