Experience the sublime styles by Beautiful Decay

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

The Beautiful Decay fashion brand is born out of a burning passion for artistic originality and creative freedom. This philosophy is intensely expressed in their absorbing, avant-garde designs which are now available at urbanretro.co.uk. We are just so proud to be showcasing this unique label on our website. Many of the T-shirts in the collection are the result of collaborations with highly respected international artists such as Aya Kato and Aspirat Infahsaeng. As Beautiful Decay’s roots are as an art magazine, an interesting twist is that many of their T-shirt designers have also featured on their front cover! There are some seriously stunning prints in the collection, like the Kaguya Dark T-shirt which depicts a sleeping girl with seeping rivers of hair. A myriad of influences and inspirations can be seen in many of the designs, from the surrealist style of the Silent Weapon T-shirt to the Oriental/Parisian cross-over of the Samurai T-shirt. Abstract art even comes in on the act with the interconnecting shapes of the Geometry T-shirt. The entire range is breathtaking, so you really need to view all the Beautiful Decay designs for yourself at urbanretro.co.uk.

Wrongwroks rock some new designs

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Wrongwroks is a brand that loves playing on the possibilities of making mistakes. In a computer-driven world that expects accuracy and perfection their unique concept of fashion is like a breath of fresh air. And the new designs featured on urbanretro.co.uk uphold their ideas on creating a twisted counter-culture. The new Copywrong T-shirt encapsulates all of Wrongwroks beliefs in one smartly subversive print. It’s bursting with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and a messed-up syntax that all make a mockery of the official language of copyright. This cutting-edge humour is carried over on the Robob T-shirt, where a robot character consists of shapes that are seemingly out of place. Wrongwroks also couldn’t resist the opportunity to create a cartoon clash between Disney and the Simpsons, which is revealed in the Marge vs Mickey and Homer vs Mickey T-shirts. Go online at urbanretro.co.uk to revel in all Wrongwroks’ pop parodies!

Super Mario made super small

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Mario has always been a cute little character, and now him and his pals have been made even more miniature! The Italian plumber has been shrunk down in size courtesy of the Super Mario mini figure collection now available at urbanretro.co.uk. It kinda reminds us of the teeny-weeny Mario in the early NES and SNES videogames. And of course, all the other famous characters haven’t been left out, so you can choose from Luigi, Yoshi, a paragoomba, Bob-omb and Bullet Bill too. As the characters are between 3 to 6cm tall they are a neat size and will create a cool distraction to liven up your desk. Bet Nintendo never imagined their characters could be recreated so small yet with so much detail! These figures are exclusive to the UK, so they are a collector’s dream. Be sure to get there first and view the whole Super Mario mini figure collection at urbanretro.co.uk.

Mario makes a play for new styles

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

As the best known videogame character in the world, Mario is the ultimate mascot of Nintendo. Everybody loves the world of the little red and blue suited plumber! So at urbanretro.co.uk we just had to feature the brand new Super Mario Bros. T-shirts. There are some really cool designs too, like the modern imaging and bold curves of the 3D Bowser, 3D Goomba and 3D Mario prints. Then we take it way, way back with the retro styling of the Swirling Goomba design, which features an old-skool Mario trying to fight off loads of little Goombas! And in an inventive twist, Koopa is re-imagined as a chilled-out character in the Koopa Villain T-shirt, where he wears a dog collar and smooth shades! Check out all the Super Mario Bros. T-shirt designs of this legendary videogame at urbanretro.co.uk.

Wonderwall Toys strictly for grown ups

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

The Wonderwall Kaiju for Grown Ups series has twisted the toy world on its head! Based in Japan, the Wonderwall brand is all about creating obscure aesthetics. And they have certainly achieved this with the Kaiju collection available now at urbanretro.co.uk. By collaborating with some of the world’s best artists, the outcome is that there are some supremely zany designs in the range. Just wait till you see the Hammerhead figure by Jamie Ledbetter, which emulates his chunky bubble-shape style. Then there’s the mad manga-inspired monster of the Taberon toy, created by the ultra-cool label Tokidoki. And finally, our top pick of the bunch, Luke Chueh’s Mecha Sad Bear. This design takes the classic teddy bear and transforms it into a sullen mech robot with a glossy black coat and rueful red eyes. It really is a sight to behold. Supplies of these toys are super limited, so take your chance to own these unique pieces of artwork at urbanretro.co.uk.

Then there’s the paint-drip effect Smiley Face design and the old-skool sketched style of a zoned-out character in the Stoned T-shirt. Rock culture gets in on the mix too, with an etched retro rendition of Led Zepplin. Visit urbanretro.co.uk to see what other forms of entertainment get the UARM treatment.

Introducing The Incredible Hulk

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

The Incredible Hulk has come roaring in with a new collection on urbanretro.co.uk! A completely new license for our site, the T-shirts feature the super-strong character in a variety of forms. Prints range from a retro comic-strip style to modern metallic artistry. For the vintage comic book fan we’ve got designs like Incredible Hulk Run which show the Hulk’s early Frankenstein-inspired form. And then there’s the simple, sketched American style of the Don’t Get Me Angry T-shirt which really highlights the differences between Bruce Banner and his green alter-ego. In contrast, the Smash Bricks print brings things bang up to date with its luminescent green shades and a pumped-up, madly muscular Hulk. Another nice touch is the prints which fuse pop culture by placing the Incredible Hulk in a variety of different guises. Check out urbanretro.co.uk to see the Hulk throwing Technics 1210’s and even more kinds of rage-fuelled rampages!

Top New Designs by Terratag

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Terratag have taken their bold anime-inspired style to awesome new heights! Fresh from their London-based design studio, we’re proud to present Terratag’s latest Collection of T-shirts at urbanretro.co.uk. As always they’ve got their eyes firmly fixed on Japanese culture alongside urban art and quirky, cutesy cartoon images. Bubble-shaped bear characters make guest appearances on two of the new T-shirts, and they show what it means to “feel the music”! There are also several stencil shadow prints featuring intricate, intensely detailed mech robots. Bright green neon graffiti is sprawled across the Robo-Graf t-shirt, in a combination of Oriental influences with the nu-rave craze. With such a culture clash of up-to-the-minute styles, it’s no wonder UK’s hottest bands and DJs are into Terratag too
